5 Steps To An At-Home Pedicure Spa Experience
In this post, we have created 5 simple and easy steps to creating your very own professional looking pedicure in the comfort of your own home, but the trick to making it feel like a spa experience is to set the scene and mood;
- Put your phone on silent.
- Grab yourself a glass of wine, juice, or even a cup of tea.
- Light a couple of therapeutic candles.
- Make sure the area you will be sitting in is comfy and cozy with pillows so you can simply fall back and relax into it.
- And lastly but really importantly, make sure to create your readymade pedicure station close by, so that everything you need is in arms reach. You don’t want to finish soaking your feet only to find that you have left your towel in the other room and will leave wet footprints on the floor going to get it or you going around the house trying to find any other things you need for your pedicure.
- The whole point is to be your own pedicure expert, while not breaking the bank and for it to be relaxing as much as possible.
Tip: When you’ve finished your at-home pedicure experience, why not put all of the tools you’ve gathered together for your readymade pedicure station into a box for the next time. Having your own at-home pedicure spa experience kit will save you time whenever you fancy treating yourself.
1) PRE-PREP
- Remove traces of your last pedicure.
- Soak a cotton pad with nail polish remover and start wiping off the old nail polish colour.
- If you are left with any staining or a yellow tinge on your nails, you can rub cuticle oil over the surface to help lighten the nail.
2) FOOT SPA TIME
Time for the main event.
- Grab your foot spa machine and waste no time in getting those feet of yours pampered at home. If you have an at-home foot spa that can create that mini jacuzzi bubbling massage effect on your feet, then by George you are set and ready to spa out.
After you’ve finished soaking your feet, this is usually the part that can feel like the work and effort.
- Where a pumice stone could be used to remove the dead skin from your feet it is much easier, quicker, and relaxing to use a good quality electric callus remover for the bottom of your feet.
3) PEDICURE TIME
- Pat dry your feet with a towel and gently ease back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.
- Shape and trim down your toenails with nail clippers with little snips of the clipper, instead of one big snip to avoid breaking your nail.
- Use a crystal nail file to gently round and neaten the edges of your toenails for a smoother, neater finish.
4) FOOT MASSAGE TIME
With a rich moisturising foot lotion, massage your feet, toes, cuticles, ankles, and calves until you are massaged out.
5) TO POLISH OR NOT TO POLISH
- For a no-maintenance natural finish, rub some nail and cuticle oil to the surface of your toenails and cuticles to give a more naturally buffed appearance
- For a low-maintenance finish, apply a layer of stain corrector to help brighten your toenail tips and your nail bed pinker.
- To finish off your pedicure with some colour, use a damp cotton pad to remove any lotion from your toenails, use a toe seperator to make applying your polish easier. Apply a base coat, two layers of your polish colour then a top coat.
- For the ultimate foot treatment, apply your foot lotion before going to sleep and wear socks to bed. Wake up to dreamy-soft soles!
